Cut Out Sugar Cookie Recipe

                                                                         

Ingredients


  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 cups plus 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Decorations of your choice: colored sugar, candies, icing, etc.

Directions

  1. Combine sugar and 1 cup shortening in large bowl. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, syrup, and vanilla. Beat until well blended and fluffy.
  2. Combine 3 cups of flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add gradually to creamed mixture at low speed. Mix until well blended. Divide dough into 4 quarters. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hours.
  3. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place sheets of foil on counter top for cooling cookies. Spread 1 tablespoon flour on large sheet of waxed paper. Place 1 dough ball on the waxed paper. Flatter the ball slightly with hands. Turn dough over and cover with another large sheet of waxed paper. Roll dough from center to edges until 1/4-inch thick. Remove top sheet of waxed paper.
  4. Cut cookies with floured cutter. Transfer to ungreased baking sheet with large pancake turner. Place 2 inches apart. Repeat with remaining dough balls. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, colored sugar or leave plain to frost and decorate when cooled.
  5. Bake on baking sheet at a time at 375 degrees for 5 to 9 minutes depending on the size of your cookies. Larger cookies will bake closer to 9 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet . Remove to foil to cool completely. Decorate as desired. (from: swap cookie recipe)

Ginger bread cookies buat Imlek,  dibuatnya malam hari..di rumah mertua .., rasanya perpaduan dari Ginger, palm sugar and cinnamon..., ditambah dengan Icing sugar jadi lengkap rasanya, karena cookiesnya sendiri dibuat tidak terlalu manis....




Sugar Cookie Icing


Ingredients

  • 120 g confectioners' sugar
  • 10 ml milk
  • 10 ml light corn syrup
  • 1 ml almond extract
  • assorted food coloring

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.
  2. Divide into separate bowls, and add food colorings to each to desired intensity. Dip cookies, or paint them with a brush.
